Alice Phoebe Lou has returned with her gorgeous new single ‘Darling’, the latest glimpse of her forthcoming sixth album Oblivion, which is set for release on 24 October. Known for her spellbinding voice and deeply personal songwriting, Alice has once again delivered a track that glows with warmth, honesty, and heart.
‘Darling’ is free flowing and harmonic, filled with golden tones and layered vocals that create a sense of dreamlike intimacy. The single captures the blissful early moments of love, bottling that intoxicating period where optimism shines and the world feels suspended in sweetness. Sharing more about the track, Alice explained: “Darling is the most typical love song you’ll find on the album, written with hearts in my eyes, full of optimism about life and the future. It’s a somewhat delusional place that we can be in for a moment, where we think that everything will just work out and love will prevail. It’s like floating between two storms, momentarily forgetting all the hardships and difficulties and just focusing on how sweet and warm it can feel to be in love.”
A new chapter with Oblivion
Alice’s upcoming album Oblivion promises to be her most personal yet. The record delves into her inner world as well as the journeys she has taken globally, shaped by both external and internal exploration. Across eleven tracks, the album pays homage to her earlier, stripped-back style, while pushing deeper into raw honesty and reflection. For the first time, Alice has self-produced the songs, leaning into imperfection and celebrating authenticity.
She describes the process as a return to her roots: “In this industry there’s an emphasis on needing to go bigger, to one-up yourself, but instead I returned to my roots of playing on the street. These songs come from deep inside my subconscious, dreams, the oblivion of sleep, the place where you can access your deepest thoughts, desires, memories, and true feelings without thinking about the way it’ll be received.”
Earlier singles from Oblivion – including ‘You and I’, ‘The Surface’, ‘Old Shadows’, and the stripped-back ‘Pretender’ – have already given fans a taste of the album’s range. With each release, Alice continues to unveil new facets of her artistry, showcasing the growth of a songwriter who refuses to compromise on her vision.
Her journey has taken her from busking on the streets of Berlin to sold-out shows around the world. In the past year alone, Alice played three magical nights at The Lodge Room in Los Angeles, supported Remi Wolf at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, and wrapped a European tour with a sold-out show at London’s Roundhouse. With upcoming North American dates alongside her other project strongboi, supporting Men I Trust, and a history of touring with artists like Clairo, her reputation as a live performer continues to soar.
With Oblivion on the horizon, ‘Darling’ sets the stage perfectly. It is a song that captures joy, vulnerability, and that fleeting moment when love feels untouchable. For Alice Phoebe Lou, it marks another radiant step in a career defined by authenticity, courage, and a voice that remains utterly unique.
