Caitlin Lavagna & Trunky Juno Turn Heartbreak Into Theatre On ‘Endless Goodbye’

A theatrical rock duet turns the chaos of a failing relationship into a dramatic, punchy anthem full of tension and dark humour.

Caitlin Lavagna & Trunky Juno lean fully into theatrical storytelling on their new single ‘Endless Goodbye’, an indie rock power ballad built around the strange cycle of love that refuses to end cleanly. Instead of a quiet breakup song, the pair present something bigger and louder. The result feels dramatic, playful and emotionally raw at the same time.

At its centre sits a relationship stuck between devotion and disaster. The story circles through lingering affection, frustration and repeated farewells that never quite stick. Therefore the narrative captures the messy reality many people recognise, where love continues long after common sense says it should stop.

The track takes influence from artists known for bold storytelling and larger musical gestures. References such as Bonnie Tyler, Kate Bush and Meat Loaf shape the theatrical direction. Consequently the arrangement builds around strong piano chords, electric guitar surges and full drum kit energy, creating the feeling of a stage performance rather than a restrained studio recording.

Caitlin and Trunky created the song during two focused days at Ghost Town Sounds Studio in London with producer Alex McArthur. During those sessions the trio stepped away from daily distractions and concentrated entirely on shaping a dramatic piece of music. That focused environment helped the song develop its confident, theatrical identity.

Caitlin already carries an impressive creative background. She grew up in Porth in the Rhondda Valleys in South Wales and works across music and acting. Since releasing her debut single ‘How Not To Start a Fight’ in 2021 she has continued to expand her catalogue while building a strong presence on radio and live stages.

A particularly busy year arrived in 2024. During that time Caitlin secured four BBC Radio Wales Welsh Artist placements, which helped introduce her work to a broader audience. Soon after she performed her charity single ‘Run’, the theme song associated with Gavin and Stacey, live on Good Morning Britain.

Recognition followed soon afterwards. Caitlin won Best Female Act at the 2025 Radio Wigwam Awards in London. Her single ‘October’ also received Best Actress and Best Music Video honours at the Celynen Film Festival. Alongside music she continues to work extensively as an actor, appearing in productions including HOUSEMATES with Hijinx and OPERATION JULIE with Theatr na nÓg.

Theatre, humour and emotional chaos collide

That mix of musical and acting experience shapes the spirit of ‘Endless Goodbye’. Rather than present heartbreak quietly, the song treats it almost like a stage drama. Every musical shift feels deliberate, building tension before releasing it in bursts of emotion.

At the same time the storytelling carries a strong sense of humour. One moment the lyrics lean into heartfelt confession. The next moment the song exaggerates the drama in a way that feels knowingly playful. This balance keeps the track lively while still preserving emotional honesty.

The phrase “anti love song” captures the idea well. Instead of celebrating devotion, the narrative highlights the strange habit people have of staying connected long after relationships begin to crumble. Yet the tone never becomes bitter. Instead it treats the situation with self aware humour.

Trunky Juno adds another dimension to the story. Together the two performers create the sense of characters locked in a dramatic back and forth, neither willing to exit the relationship first. Their musical dynamic therefore mirrors the emotional stalemate described in the lyrics.

Listeners who enjoy theatrical rock will recognise the ambition behind the track. Bold melodies, strong instrumental moments and dramatic pacing give the song its identity. Yet the humour within the storytelling prevents it from sinking under its own intensity.

Review

‘Endless Goodbye’ succeeds because Caitlin Lavagna and Trunky Juno fully commit to the theatrical concept. Instead of holding back, the song embraces drama from the opening moments. Piano chords introduce the emotional tone, while guitars and drums steadily raise the tension.

Caitlin’s vocal performance carries both vulnerability and theatrical flair. That balance allows the story to feel sincere even when the arrangement reaches its most dramatic points. Meanwhile the humour threaded through the narrative keeps the song entertaining rather than heavy.

The result feels lively, expressive and memorable. Fans of grand rock storytelling will find plenty to enjoy here, especially those who appreciate music that treats heartbreak with both honesty and a wink of self awareness.
