Annabell shares her new single ‘You’re Alright’, a soft yet restless indie pop track rooted in emotional honesty. Based in South London, Annabell uses the song to sit with the frustration of staying composed while carrying more than anyone realises.
At the centre of the track is a lyric that cuts cleanly through the arrangement: ‘I pick up the pieces and nobody sees it’. It speaks to a familiar dynamic in relationships, where effort becomes invisible and care turns into quiet labour. Annabell delivers the line without emphasis, which makes it land harder.
‘You’re Alright’ is available now via APOLLO Distribution. The production stays measured, built on breathy vocals, soothing synth layers, and subtle acoustic textures. Nothing pushes forward. Instead, the song holds its shape and lets the feeling exist without resolution.
Annabell has described the track as an “angry-sad” song. That description fits the emotional balance of the writing, which sits between frustration and exhaustion rather than confrontation. The song does not argue its point. It documents the experience of continuing to show up for someone while quietly wearing down.
Writing from repetition and emotional fatigue
The songwriting process behind ‘You’re Alright’ began in Annabell’s phone notes, where fragments, poems, and ideas often live before becoming songs. One line stayed with her: “I write about you every time I pick up the pen”. That idea became the foundation of the track.
She explains that the line reflects the experience of someone occupying your thoughts completely. You write about them, journal about them, and return to the same feelings again and again. The song focuses on the tension of giving endlessly to someone who offers little in return.
That sense of repetition runs through the structure of the track. The production remains restrained and the vocal delivery stays close and controlled. Rather than building toward release, the song mirrors the feeling of being stuck in a loop you cannot quite step out of.
Beyond this release, Annabell continues to develop a sound that bridges acoustic and electronic spaces. As a cellist and multi instrumentalist, she co produces her own work, blending singer songwriter foundations with pop and indie influences.
She has received regular support from BBC Introducing and has played across venues in London. She has also opened for Paris Paloma on her breakout tour. ‘You’re Alright’ builds on that trajectory by narrowing the focus inward and placing emotional detail at the centre of her writing.
