Billie Marten

Billie Marten is a Yorkshire singer-songwriter whose work moves between contemporary folk, alternative pop and increasingly full-band arrangements. She began sharing music online as a child and entered the record industry during her teens, releasing Writing of Blues and Yellows and Feeding Seahorses by Hand before later albums Flora Fauna, Drop Cherries and Dog Eared. Her music is recognised for restrained vocals, precise imagery and an interest in identity, anxiety, nature and personal transition. Dog Eared marked a move away from sparse acoustic presentation towards richer ensemble performances shaped with producer Philip Weinrobe. Billie Marten has also spoken openly about the financial pressures facing working musicians, including the gap between public perceptions of success and the economic reality of recording and touring.
