pencil are a London five-piece whose indie music favours melody, poetic writing and rich instrumentation over post-punk severity. ‘Sparkling Water’ presents romance as a shared daydream that can shift between playfulness and fear, using an immersive arrangement to support its surreal imagery. The band have received BBC Radio 6 Music support and performed at Green Man Festival, The Great Escape and shows with The Japanese House. Their live performances extend the layered and atmospheric character of their recordings.
