Natalie Imbruglia has released her new album Algorithm, marking a period in which she says she has taken greater control over both the creative and financial sides of her music. The record arrives alongside focus track ‘Beautiful Love’, while a UK record store tour begins today.
The album follows recent singles ‘Upside Down’, ‘Algorithm’ and ‘Just Drive’. It has also picked up Radio 2 support, alongside appearances on Fearne Cotton’s Sounds of the 90s and Davina McCall’s Begin Again.
Natalie describes the making of Algorithm as a process that brought back some of the instinct she remembered from her first album. “There was a flow to the process of making this record that I’d only really felt on my first album, where there was a little bit of magic and a little bit of grace behind it,” she says.
“It’s a beautiful thing to be at this age where nothing is projected onto me, and I can take a chance on myself. I get to be the master of my own destiny.”
‘Beautiful Love’ closes Algorithm on a personal note
Album closer ‘Beautiful Love’ was written with producer Fraser T Smith and Snow Patrol’s Gary Lightbody. The song centres on self-acceptance, moving beyond shame and finding a sense of release, with Natalie describing the writing sessions as an unusually open experience.
“I had the most incredible experience with those guys,” Natalie says. “They listened and were able to channel everything I wanted to say. When you’ve felt ashamed, you can be carried away by the momentum of it. But once you find your way out, it’s the most freeing feeling in the world.”
Across Algorithm, polished synth textures and disco-pop momentum sit alongside quieter piano-led moments. Opener ‘Debbie’ uses layered vocals and sleek synth-pop production, while ‘Catastrophe’ pairs handclaps with a lyric about destructive tendencies.
‘Who Dimmed The Lights’ is dedicated to women who have fought to reclaim their identity, while ‘Endgame’ examines the tension between chasing perfection and remaining present. Together, those tracks give the album a wider range than its brighter pop surfaces initially suggest.
Physical editions are available alongside the digital release, including a limited deluxe orange gatefold vinyl which adds a two-track 7-inch single and signed art card. Natalie is also marking the release with a record store tour combining signings and intimate performances.
The run begins on 4th September 2026 with a midday signing at Wax and Beans in Bury, followed by a performance at The Wardrobe in Leeds hosted by Crash Records. Further stops include London on 6th September, Kingston on 9th September and Brighton on 10th September, before Natalie headlines Brava in Madrid on 19th September.
