Soul powerhouse Sinead Campbell makes a bold return with her new single, ‘Stand’, released on 29th May 2025. The track introduces her upcoming EP Sankofa, due later this year, and opens a confident new chapter for the Bradford-based artist. Rooted in ancestry, identity, and cultural pride, it delivers a bold message of self-assurance and growth.
‘Stand’ blends vintage soul textures with a fresh, modern edge. Velvety grooves and vivid chords support Sinead’s commanding voice as she delivers a personal story of healing and transformation. Her lyrics, filled with emotional honesty, reflect the strength she has reclaimed throughout her journey.
A song about clarity, values and liberation
Sinead explains: “This song is about becoming clear on who you are, what you stand for, and having the courage to live in alignment with that unapologetically. It’s about values, integrity, and claiming your space in the world with authenticity and real power. ‘Stand’ reflects this new phase and showing up as my full self, both in my music and in my life.”
The single sets the tone for Sankofa, a project named after a Twi word meaning “to go back and fetch it.” The phrase encourages people to reflect on the past to shape a better future. On this EP, Sinead explores her Jamaican-Irish heritage through honest, heartfelt songwriting.
She adds: “The EP as a whole has been shaped by my personal healing journey. I’ve delved into my roots, explored my heritage, and reconnected with parts of myself I had been distanced from – particularly my African Caribbean identity, which has been really tough. I’ve spent years learning, healing and unlearning to reach a point where I can fully embrace who I am. Writing this music gave me a way to reclaim and celebrate those parts of me. I hope it’ll inspire others.”
A powerful reintroduction
