Steve Hewitt returns with the vibrant new single ‘If I Said It To You’, released on 25th July. The track marks the final instalment in a trilogy of singles, all leading up to his highly anticipated second album Never Two Days The Same, due for release on 22nd September 2025.
Taking a brighter, more accessible turn, ‘If I Said It To You’ sees the Kent-based songwriter lean confidently into Country-Pop territory. It’s a stylistic shift from previous singles ‘Cold World’ and ‘Lost The Reason’, both of which showcased a moodier, more introspective side of Steve’s genre-blurring approach. Yet even in this more upbeat setting, he remains grounded in his signature sound: stripped-back production, crisp acoustic guitar, and heartfelt lyrical delivery.
The new track is undeniably catchy. A toe-tapping rhythm drives the song forward, while Steve’s smooth vocal harmonies and well-placed hooks give it mainstream appeal without compromising his musical identity. There’s a warmth and simplicity to the production that highlights his knack for songwriting, pairing polished melodies with a down-to-earth aesthetic.
New album Never Two Days The Same out this September
The upcoming album Never Two Days The Same features 11 tracks and continues Steve’s mission to blur the lines between Americana, Country and British Folk. It’s the follow-up to his critically acclaimed debut Bigger Than Words (2019), once again produced by Paul West. The album includes contributions from Ant Wellman on bass, Louise Parsons on vocals and Miriam Cox on cello, further expanding the sonic palette without losing the intimate touch that defines Steve’s work.
As an independent artist, Steve has carved his own path, guided by creative instinct rather than commercial trends. His music is a reflection of that persistence – personal, genre-fluid, and built on strong foundations. With ‘If I Said It To You’, he offers a final glimpse into what’s to come, setting the tone for a collection that promises variety, honesty, and plenty of heart.
‘If I Said It To You’ is available now on all major digital platforms. Never Two Days The Same is out 22nd September on Limited Edition CD and digital formats.
