Emily Volt Owns Every Second Of ‘Misleading Fortune’

Emily Volt hits hard on ‘Misleading Fortune’, delivering a loud, sharp track that sticks instantly.

Emily Volt came onto my radar last year and has become one of my favourite ever musicians. She hasn’t even released an album yet, but her music is dominating my listening in a way only a few artists ever manage. I’m genuinely in awe of everything she does, so I’m buzzing that on 9th April she releases her new single ‘Misleading Fortune’.

And this isn’t hype for the sake of it. She’s already been right up there in our 2025 coverage, both as an artist and through her EP, so there’s context behind how big this feels. ‘Misleading Fortune’ doesn’t reset anything, it builds on it and pushes it further.

The track comes in loud and confident. Guitars hit hard, everything feels tight, and there’s no wasted movement. Then her voice lands and suddenly it all locks into place. That’s the moment where it stops being a good track and becomes hers.

What she’s saying cuts straight through as well. It goes after people who think money, status and connections make them worth more. No soft edges, no dressing it up, just calling it out properly. That honesty gives the whole thing its edge.

And yeah, it sticks. Properly. The kind of hook that doesn’t leave you alone once it’s in your head.

She’s the reason this hits the way it does

This is where it shifts from being about the song to being about her.

Because loads of artists can make something loud. Loads of artists can write something pointed. Not many can sit at the centre of it like this and make it feel completely theirs.

She’s got that presence. You hear it straight away. The way she delivers a line, the way she holds your attention, the way everything else feels like it’s built around her. It’s confident without being forced, and it never slips.

And yeah, I’m not pretending otherwise. She’s stunning. There’s a pull to her that goes beyond the music, something that makes you want to stay right there and keep listening. It adds something to the track that you can’t fake.

Review

I love this, and I’m not toning that down.

There’s a moment early on where everything clicks, guitars, rhythm, her voice cutting straight through, and from there it just runs. It doesn’t dip, it doesn’t hesitate, it just keeps going with the same level of confidence all the way through.

What makes it hit harder is how natural it feels. It doesn’t sound like she’s trying to prove anything. It sounds like she already knows what she’s doing and is fully in control of it. That confidence carries everything.

And it’s fun. That’s the bit that makes it stick. It’s loud, sharp, a bit chaotic in the right places, and built to be played again straight away. It doesn’t drag, it doesn’t overstay, it just lands and leaves you wanting more.

But more than anything, it’s her. It always comes back to her. The voice, the attitude, the way she owns every second of it. You don’t just hear the track, you lock onto her completely, and once you’re there you’re not going anywhere.

As you might have guessed – I fucking love it. You can pre-save ‘Misleading Fortune’ now and follow Emily Volt everywhere you possibly can (including Instagram)
