Exeter’s pushbike make beautifully battered guitar music somewhere between the melodic rush of Teenage Fanclub, the glorious racket of Boyracer and the nervous energy of American emo and hardcore. Emerging from the DIY community surrounding Exeter’s Cavern, the band are part of a wider network of musicians, zines, labels and overlapping projects breathing new life into the British guitar underground. Members also play across several other bands, including fellow travellers Bramwell, while pushbike themselves operate the fiercely independent spinning sister label.

Brief, noisy and relentlessly melodic, their songs carry the spirit of Sarah Records and C86 without becoming an exercise in nostalgia. This is old machinery being put to new purposes: feedback, jangle and distortion for another generation.
