Rosie Gault forgets a name and ends up writing her most vulnerable track yet

Rosie Gault is back, and her new single ‘I’m Losing You’ hits like a quiet punch to the chest. It’s about that awful moment when you realise you’re forgetting the tiny details about someone who used to mean everything. Out on 24th May, this one’s for anyone who’s ever had to let go of memories they weren’t ready to lose.

‘I’m Losing You’ is all delicate piano, moody synths and aching vocals. It’s super cinematic, but still feels raw and personal. She wrote it back in her hometown near Lincolnshire after she suddenly couldn’t remember whether her ex had a middle name or not. That detail spun her into a creative spiral, and the whole song came tumbling out.

It’s co-produced by Rosie and Evan Anderson, who’s clearly as deep into the emotion of it all as she is. He doesn’t just help with the music – he buys into the story, which makes everything sound richer. Rosie says she wanted the heavy beat in the chorus to echo the wave of anxiety that hits when you miss someone out of nowhere. And yeah, it does exactly that.

She’s always said she wants her music to heal people, and ‘I’m Losing You’ is no different. There’s something very comforting about the way she talks through heartbreak like she’s been there with you. That bridge line – “once the sound of your voice leaves my head, there’s a space nothing can ever fill” – is pure devastation, but in a weirdly soothing way.

A window seat, a beat drop, and a nod to Ford Fiesta

There are definite echoes of Taylor Swift and Gracie Abrams in the songwriting – soft but sharp. It’s a proper window-seat track, the kind you’d have on loop during a quiet cry or a long solo train ride.

Rosie even throws in a reference to her older track Ford Fiesta, which adds this lovely feeling that her songs are all part of a bigger emotional diary. She’s building a universe of feelings, and this one’s a sad, shimmering new page.

If you’re nursing a broken heart or just need a three-minute escape, make a note of 24th May. ‘I’m Losing You’ isn’t just a breakup song – it’s a gentle nudge that it’s OK to forget, to remember, and to feel everything in between.
