Gemma Ballam tightens her focus and embraces a heavier sound on a single that cuts straight to the emotional core.

Scotland / Birmingham
Gemma Ballam is a Scottish alt-indie singer-songwriter from the Highlands, currently based in Birmingham. She began learning piano at eight before adding violin, trumpet and singing, later achieving Grade 8 Classical Piano and Grade 7 Classical Vocals. After studying Popular Music Performance at BIMM Birmingham, Gemma began developing her own songs and performing regularly with her band across the city. Her music pairs vulnerable, direct lyrics with agile vocals, guitar-led alternative production and an increasingly heavier sound.
Gemma released her debut single ‘Rewind’ in 2024 and has continued refining her alt-pop and pop-rock identity through tracks including ‘in my head’ and ‘Haunt Me’. Alongside her work as an artist, she is a vocal and piano tutor and a qualified vocal health practitioner. Whether she is writing about rejection, uncertainty or the thoughts that refuse to leave, Gemma brings clarity, personality and a strong melodic instinct to every song.
