My Lo-fi Heart
Sheffield, England
After spending much of the past two decades lurking at the back of Sheffield’s independent music scene, Ian Turley has finally decided to stand at the front.
A veteran of bands including Smokers Die Younger, The Parallelograms and All Ashore!, Turley operates under the name My Lo-Fi Heart, constructing gloriously homespun electronic love songs from a collection of battered synthesisers, dusty drum machines and jangling guitars.
Taking his cues from Sheffield’s pioneering electronic underground, early Human League and the more romantic corners of indie pop, his music occupies a peculiar space somewhere between bedroom experimentation and a disco for hopeless romantics.
