Angel Wong turns north-versus-south posturing into bright, witty pop-funk, with an infectious vocal and a hook that knows exactly when…

Angel Wong
London
Angel Wong is a London-based pop artist, vocalist, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and composer whose work crosses genres while keeping melody at its centre. Her influences stretch from Whitney Houston and Red Hot Chili Peppers to Zedd, Tiësto, Bach and Thelonious Monk, reflecting roots shaped by the Miao heritage of Guizhou, the cultural mix of Hong Kong and years performing around London’s jazz circuit, including the EFG London Jazz Festival.
Her debut single ‘Hide n Seek’ introduced her through cinematic synth-pop, confessional writing and a story of toxic attraction that continues to haunt its narrator. Follow-up ‘North of the River’ shifted towards energetic pop-funk, using wit, rhythm and an infectious vocal to examine social posturing, north-versus-south rivalry and the identities people perform even when they can see through them. Across both releases, Angel shows a flexible approach to genre alongside a consistent instinct for character, atmosphere and memorable hooks.
