Isla Mae

Isla Mae is a Leeds and Cambridge-based singer-songwriter whose music brings folk and acoustic storytelling into conversation with indie-pop, jazz, soul and R&B. She writes and produces much of her work herself, keeping her voice and lyricism at the centre while allowing each release to take on its own character. Her songs move between personal reflection and fictional narratives, exploring love, regret, hope and the choices people struggle to make.

Her EPs Dancing under a Pseudonym, Halfway to the Sun and Some Form of Art trace her development as a writer and producer. ‘What Love Will Do to You’ places teenage heartbreak inside layered vocals and a driving pop arrangement, while ‘Round and Round’ follows a fictional couple trapped in a cycle of arguments, attraction and broken promises. Isla’s music has appeared on Spotify’s Fresh Finds Folk playlist, and she has performed at Camp Bestival, Cambridge Club Festival and Ely Folk Festival.
