Terrianne opens up about grief and healing on heartbreaking new single ‘Daffodils’

Out today, Derby-born and London-based artist Terrianne shares her most vulnerable single to date. ‘Daffodils’ is a delicate, piano-led ballad written during a time of intense personal grief, marking a powerful emotional shift for the rising singer-songwriter. Released with support from Help Musicians and BBC Introducing, the track reflects Terrianne’s desire to bring comfort and connection to listeners facing similar pain.

“This is the song I wish I never had to write,” Terrianne says. Crafted in collaboration with female writing duo INK, who recently received the PRS Hitmaker Fund, ‘Daffodils’ captures the quiet, raw ache of loss. It was written as a form of therapy, a personal act of processing, and has now become a public moment of shared emotion.

With its stripped-back arrangement and elegant production, the single lets Terrianne’s vocal delivery shine. There’s a weight behind every lyric, a gentle honesty that invites the listener to sit with their own feelings. As grief becomes a universal yet often silenced experience, ‘Daffodils’ creates space for acceptance – and tenderness.

A heartfelt chapter from a growing voice

Terrianne has already made a name for herself on the live circuit, with performances at Isle of Wight Festival, Matchstick Festival, and sold-out shows across London and the Midlands. She’s appeared on BBC Introducing stages in Nottingham and Derby, and released her debut EP Independent & Free with the help of a successful crowdfunding campaign.

Support from Help Musicians, Arts Council England, and BBC Introducing has continued to fuel her momentum. Now, through the Help Musicians Next Level Award, she will promote ‘Daffodils’ with a performance on the BBC Introducing Stage at Y Not Festival this summer.

This week, Terrianne embarks on a busking tour of London and the Midlands alongside fellow artist Dorothy Ella, performing ‘Daffodils’ live while handing out flowers to the public. It’s a simple gesture that mirrors the track’s message; quiet, thoughtful, and profoundly human.

As an artist dedicated to empowering women in the music industry, Terrianne sees this release as a moment of openness and growth. “I hope showing this side of myself helps others feel less alone. It’s okay to not be okay all of the time.”
