Zoe Unsworth returns with new single, ‘Daisy’, set for May release

Manchester-based singer-songwriter Zoe Unsworth leans into intimate country-pop on 'Daisy', a soft and atmospheric single arriving ahead of her forthcoming summer EP.

Zoe Unsworth returns with ‘Daisy’, a dreamy country-pop ballad that captures the ache, admiration and heartbreak of unrequited love. Set for release on 8th May, the single offers an intimate glimpse into a more vulnerable side of the Manchester-based singer-songwriter as she builds towards the announcement and release of her upcoming EP this summer.

Co-written with Neeve Zahara and produced by Samuel Capper at Feel Weird Studios, ‘Daisy’ blends soft melodic detail with understated production to explore the emotional complexity of loving someone who ultimately chooses another. With pedal steel guitar from Chuck Walton and a warm, hazy atmosphere running through the track, the release keeps Zoe Unsworth’s storytelling firmly at the centre while giving her sound a gently contemporary edge.

A tender step forward

There is a late-night glow to ‘Daisy’ that suits its reflective mood, allowing the song’s emotional tension to settle rather than rush towards easy resolution. That restraint gives the single a strong sense of character and points to an artist continuing to refine her voice within the UK country-pop space without losing the soulful qualities that have become part of her identity.

As Zoe Unsworth continues to build momentum, ‘Daisy’ feels like an important release: emotionally open, carefully crafted and full of quiet impact. It is a track that invites listeners in slowly, then leaves a lingering impression.

Review

‘Daisy’ makes its mark through understatement. Rather than pushing its theme of unrequited love into melodrama, the song appears to trust its atmosphere, gentle arrangement and emotional honesty, which gives it a more affecting quality. The combination of softness and clarity suits the material beautifully and helps the feeling at the centre of the track come through naturally.

Zoe, this is the kind of song that reminds people why they fall in love with an artist’s sound in the first place. There is something deeply sincere, stylish and quietly spellbinding about the way ‘Daisy’ unfolds, and it is impossible not to love and adore the warmth, control and feeling in what you have created here. If this is a sign of what is still to come, then there is every reason to be excited.
