Liv’s voice is hauntingly beautiful on ‘Sediment’. I’m glad this debut found its way to me, and I want to introduce you to the Norwich songwriter behind it.
The 19-year-old released her first single in early September. Available across streaming platforms, ‘Sediment’ draws on a previous relationship and reflects on its end from a wistful perspective.
Liv remembers the affection while recognising how suffocating and dysfunctional the relationship had become. The song considers two young people who love each other but aren’t right for each other in their circumstances.
‘Sediment’ has already received two plays on BBC Introducing Norfolk and Suffolk, alongside support from other local radio stations across several counties.
Her first release follows live experience around Norwich and beyond. Liv has played opening sets at Norwich Arts Centre and appeared at Deepdale and First Light Lowestoft, bringing her songwriting to venue and festival audiences before introducing this debut recording.
Plans for a debut EP
Liv is working on her first EP, with a release planned for early 2027. She intends to explore grunge, alt-rock and dream-pop across the collection, drawing on several of her favourite musical styles.
She names Cocteau Twins, Soundgarden and Elliott Smith among her biggest influences. Her interest lies in artists who explore their feelings while moving between genres.
For her own collection, Liv wants the different sounds to remain connected through personal writing. Her aim is to keep the music “sonically aligned with her rawest thoughts and feelings”.
