She sounds fantastic here. The performance is deeper in feeling, richer in detail and perhaps even more evocative than it was when she first arrived. There is no sense of someone trying to recreate an earlier version of herself. Gabriella sounds settled, assured and fully in command of the song.
The chorus has enough immediacy to stay with you, but it never feels disconnected from the song’s meaning. Its pull comes from the confidence underneath it, the sense that the decision has already been made and all that remains is to say it aloud.
