Sigrid has announced her highly anticipated third studio album There’s Always More That I Could Say, set for release on 24 October via Island / EMI. To mark the beginning of this new chapter, the Norwegian pop sensation has shared its lead single ‘Fort Knox’, a bold and emotionally charged anthem that transforms heartbreak into empowerment.
Written and recorded in a harbour-side studio in Bergen, ‘Fort Knox’ is built around a pulsing synth bass and features one of Sigrid’s most unfiltered vocal performances to date. Captured with a handheld mic in a single take, her voice carries the raw honesty and urgency of the track’s message. The song explores the emotional armour people build after being hurt in love, using the image of the famous U.S. military vault as a powerful metaphor for self-protection.
“This time, I’m gonna lock my love in a box, and safeguard it like it’s Fort Knox,” Sigrid sings, turning vulnerability into defiance. The single’s arrival confirms her reputation as a master of fearless pop songwriting, following in the footsteps of earlier releases like ‘Don’t Kill My Vibe’ and ‘Strangers’.
There’s Always More That I Could Say promises to be Sigrid’s most emotionally varied record yet. It moves confidently between themes of infatuation, heartbreak, reflection and resilience, always grounded in her instinct for strong melodies and sky-high choruses. From the driving energy of ‘Do It Again’ to the delicate reflection of the title track, the album showcases a broader palette and greater emotional depth.
‘Fort Knox’ follows the previously released ‘Jellyfish’, a playful and carefree moment that highlights the range of Sigrid’s new material. That track, described by Sigrid as “easy, like a Scandinavian summer,” was written with longtime collaborator Askjell Solstrand, who also co-wrote her early ballad ‘Dynamite’. Their enduring creative partnership brings a sense of trust and experimentation to the record, helping to shape its bold sound.
Reconnecting with instinct and redefining purpose
The journey to There’s Always More That I Could Say began with a reset. After two world tours, over two billion global streams and milestone moments like performing at Glastonbury and headlining Wembley Arena, Sigrid found herself drained by the pressure of constant output. In 2024, she stepped away from the demands of “content culture” and returned to making music purely for the joy of it.
She travelled solo through remote parts of Norway, rediscovering her creative spark. Festival stages in South America reignited her love for performance. Late-night sessions with her band became a space to explore ideas freely. That shift in mindset led to songs like ‘Fort Knox’ and ‘Jellyfish’, which reflect a return to spontaneity and emotional honesty.
The album’s tracklist includes highlights such as ‘I’ll Always Be Your Girl’, ‘Hush Baby, Hurry Slowly’ and ‘Have You Heard This Song Before’, with each track contributing to the album’s overall sense of openness and self-reflection. As she turns 28, Sigrid writes from a wiser and more considered perspective, navigating love and loss with both strength and sensitivity.
Sigrid’s return to live shows this summer further demonstrated the deep connection she shares with her audience. At Rock Werchter, over 20,000 fans packed the tent to see her perform, with another 8,000 waiting outside. At Latitude Festival, she headlined the second stage to huge crowds. The following day, she joined Ed Sheeran onstage in Oslo at Ullevaal Stadium, where they performed her breakout hit ‘Don’t Kill My Vibe’. That performance has since gone viral, gaining over four million views.
Throughout her career, Sigrid has balanced vulnerability and power in equal measure. Whether she’s writing ballads at the piano or crafting festival-ready anthems, her ability to turn personal moments into universal pop songs has remained constant. With There’s Always More That I Could Say, she deepens that commitment, offering a collection that feels both personal and expansive.
‘Fort Knox’ is available to stream now. Pre-orders for There’s Always More That I Could Say are open ahead of its 24 October release via Island / EMI.
