TuneFountain has changed quite a bit behind the scenes recently, but the aim is simple: make it easier to find artists you care about, keep up with their coverage and share the music that catches your attention.
That now includes a full artist directory, dedicated artist profiles, redesigned social sharing and a Progressive Web App that can put TuneFountain directly on your phone. You can even choose which artists you want notifications from, rather than relying on an algorithm to decide what reaches you.
Follow the artists you actually want to hear about
The new TuneFountain artist list brings the artists covered across the site into one place. Instead of finding somebody through a single review and then losing track of them, you can now browse the growing archive and jump straight into their dedicated coverage.
Individual artist profiles pull that history together. A page such as Poesie collects her TuneFountain appearances in one place, making it much easier to move from a new single back through earlier reviews, releases and features.
That is especially useful for the emerging artists TuneFountain follows over time. A single release rarely tells the whole story, and these pages make it easier to see how somebody’s songwriting, sound and catalogue are developing rather than treating every new track as an isolated event.
Sharing has had a substantial makeover too. Facebook shares can now use custom TuneFountain artwork designed around the article itself, rather than leaving the platform to assemble a generic preview. The aim is for a shared review to look like something made to be shared, with the artist, article type and TuneFountain identity immediately visible.
On mobile, there is now a dedicated share option that creates a specially designed article card for Instagram. So when a review makes you want to shout about an artist, you can turn it into something much more visual than dropping a plain link into a post.
The biggest addition, though, is that TuneFountain can now live on your phone as a Progressive Web App. Install the site and it behaves much more like an app, giving you quick access without needing to hunt for a browser tab every time you want to check the latest coverage.
Push notifications make that more personal. You can opt into all TuneFountain updates, but you can also choose notifications for individual artists, meaning you can hear when new coverage lands for the musicians you are most interested in following.
That is the direction behind these changes. TuneFountain has always been built around finding artists early and then sticking around to hear what they do next. The new artist pages, mobile installation and notification controls give that idea a much better home.
There is plenty more still being built, but these additions already make TuneFountain easier to explore, easier to share and far easier to shape around your own listening. If an artist catches your ear today, you no longer have to hope you remember to search for them again six months later.
