Zoee returns with new single ‘HABIT’ on 11th September 2026, leaning into the kind of romance where the warning signs are obvious and the attraction wins anyway. The Nashville-based Australian singer-songwriter describes it as a playful, cinematic country-pop song about knowing somebody is probably terrible for you and wanting them regardless.
Zoee solo-wrote the track, building its story around rose-coloured glasses, scarlet flags, old baggage and the feeling of slipping back into a relationship pattern you already know too well. Rather than framing that relapse as a surprise, ‘HABIT’ plays with the idea of seeing the mistake coming and walking towards it anyway.
Zoee has built an independent career across country-pop and contemporary pop, with five number one singles at Australian Country Radio and more than 2.6 million streams. Raised in Australia and now based in Nashville, she has continued developing a more pop-forward side to her songwriting while keeping the direct storytelling that shaped her earlier work.
‘HABIT’ turns a bad idea into the whole point
The song’s central idea treats attraction almost like an addiction, with memories, old belongings and familiar romantic cues becoming part of something that is difficult to quit. Zoee’s own description of the track is deliberately self-aware, presenting the relationship as flirty, messy and dangerous rather than pretending the red flags are hidden.
That gives ‘HABIT’ a sharper angle than a straightforward love song. The tension comes from understanding exactly why going back is a bad idea while still feeling the pull, turning bad judgement into part of the song’s appeal rather than something to be resolved before the final chorus.
‘HABIT’ also pushes Zoee a little further towards contemporary pop without losing the direct relationship writing underneath it. The country storytelling is still there, but the framing feels increasingly comfortable outside a strictly country lane.
